I've been out of touch recently..sorry for that. Faire has been busy busy busy. Last weekend was kinda crappy due to large amounts of rain, mud and sludge. This weekend, not quite as crappy. BEtter sales, better weather, better spirits. And school days in between...better than I expected them to be. All time low for the season: $83 for Middle School Days. Yeah. AVerage for us for a regular day is about $350. So that's hella low. On the other hand, we did over $350 for the High School day, so its all good.
And this coming week, we have two more days, each with estimated participation of 6-8,000 kids. Yeah.
I'll be home tonight, and most likely will be traveling back up to Faire Tues night, then will be there until Sunday. So I'll have very little time for anything. Almost done, 3 more weekends at faire to go. I"m looking forward to sleeping, but not looking forward to the inevitable Faire withdrawl. Oy.
Its going to be a long winter.

This weekend was one long downpour...in short, a washout. We made money, some, but not a lot. And it was stressful and tiring overall. AT several points both yesterday and today, our tent was encasing a river of water flowing down the hill. It was lovely. (not) EVerything I own up there is now wet or very very soggy.
And I come home tonight and find out Paul Newman died. *whimper*
Its going to be a busy week. I'm home tomorrow, then Tuesday morning, waaaaay earlier than I'm used to being up and about, I'll head back up to Faire for the first of the Kids days at PARF. With luck, I'll make enough money to pay for my gas up there. ;) Actually, when we get the high school and middle school kids, we can acutally make a decent amount..they come with money their pockets, unlike the elementary kids (which we'll be dealing with on Friday). Keep it Simple, keep it affordable, keep it from being stolen. ;) So I"ll be home very little this week, and the same for the next 2 weeks after that. Luckily,
neoclue is being very good to me and staying with the kids. I hope it will be worth it. ;)
So, with all that in mind, I think I'm going to change into something comfy and warm, curl up and watch "True Blood" on HBO, and go to bed. Gnight, ya'll.

Flying too close to the sun
If the moment of glory
Is over before it's begun
If the dream is won
Though everything is lost
We will pay the price
But we will not count the cost
When the dust has cleared
And victory denied
A summit too lofty
River a little too wide
If we keep our pride
Though paradise is lost
We will pay the price
But we will not count the cost
And if the music stops
There's only the sound of the rain
All the hope and glory
All the sacrifice in vain
(And) If love remains
Though everything is lost
We will pay the price
But we will not count the cost

Tasha, in crazy kitten mode.

All three kids are home from school today.
Tessa got on the bus. Josh didn't get out of bed (his choice...he'll have to deal with the teachers later by calling in and explaining why he wasn't in school)...Cameron's van came almost 8 minutes earlier than it usually does (according to our neighbor) and did NOT wait for us. This morning I was feeling kinda crappy and didn't feel like dragging his butt into the school, so I kept him home..which is actually a good thing, becuase it turns out he's sick. And then I get a call from the nurse at the 5th/6th grade center telling me that Tessa's sick, I need to come get her... There is apparently a rash of stomach virus going through the school, lots of kids getting sent home and what not.
Oy.

All I ask is that you set aside your political differences today, and remember those who lost their lives in NY, DC, and PA on this day back in 2001. They deserve to be remembered and honored as mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, beloved family members, and friends, not as a political platform to gain votes.
Light a candle, reflect, and remember.

I went to the Eye Dr today. My eyes have changed a little; apparently there's been a little improvement in each eye. Whoohoo!
I wanted to get contacs..I've been getting annoyed with my glasses; they work fine, but I don't particularly LIKE myself in them. I stopped wearing contacts about 4-5 years ago because we couldn't find ones that actually fit me well enough. I have an astigmatism, and back then, even the Toric lenses didn't quite work for me. Plus, 2 years ago when I realized I needed bifocals (actually, trifocals), they were pretty much out.
So today, we found a pair that fit me pretty well. They're comfortable, I can see well with them, everything is crystal clear. But the bifocal contacs would have been too expensive, and he said they're still not really perfected yet. So...
I went to CVS and got myself some reading glasses. I have joined the "lenses on a string" crowd. :) Of course, I managed to find a pair that are PURPLE! So here is my librarian look:

"Young Man..keep your voice down, or there WILL be consequences."
Eh, I guess I'm not old..just experienced. :)
At any rate, this will take some getting used to..again. I keep going to push my glasses up and they're not there. ;)

Before I could comment,
Yeaaaaah, glad he said it, not me. :)
At any rate, I know she'll be well taken care of. She's going to live with her cousin, Oliver, who happens to be Meena's son..they adopted him last year at about this same time.
Here we go again..keeping it all in the family. :)

Your result for The Heart Test...
Bleeding Heart
You are 0% Independent, 60% Idealistic, 50% Intimate, and 60% Indulgent!

The Bleeding Heart
Dependent, Idealistic, Passionate, Indulgent
Matches for the Bleeding Heart:
The Hero's Heart
The Hero's Heart shares your idealistic nature and want for harmony and unity, as well as your fiery passion. The Hero is more independent than you, however, but you will find this to be an honorable quality. The Hero believes in true love and will be there for you, but the more self-reliant nature will be a good contrast to your more neediness.
The Slave to Emotions
The Slave to Emotions shares your neediness and need for harmony in a relationship, and your idealistic values. The shave will show you intimacy that you desire and will go well with your passionate nature.
The Rogue's Heart
The Rogue's Heart is loving and passionate, craving love just as you do. The Rogue is more forthcoming and candid than you, but you will be able to accept this trait, especially if you are more submissive, as Bleeding Hearts tend to be, and perhaps even appreciate it due to the Rogue's other more loving and devoted traits.
Your exact opposite is The Pragmatic Heart.
Avoid Realists when possible. You'll want someone who believes in true love, a true hero to nurture your bleeding heart. Intimates, too, may not be passionate enough for you, though you may appreciate their sense of deep loving. Explicit relationships must also be pursued with caution unless they are balanced with the qualities you appreciate in a mate.
Two kittens left tonight with their new owners.
Hallelujah.

1. Kittens (yeah, even though they've already pooped really close to neoclue's shoes, and knocked over my whole container of glitter all over the floor.)
2. Friends who cook really, really good meals (thanks,

3. Living in the Spring Ford School District (Cameron's emotional support teacher called me last night to confirm everything, to check up on him, and answer questions. He's a marvelous teacher.)
4. Hot Biscuits. With lots of butter. And Jelly. Yum.
5. Lots of loud, obnoxious, *distracting* bells. (kind of an inside joke for the PARF crowd...but yeah...its going to be a loud weekend.)

From the Faire last weekend:

The beautiful

Me in my new corset...not the greatest of pics, but it will have to do. It gives me a nice shape. *grin*
And a kitten pic...the one we're keeping, who still has yet to tell us her name:

She's the sweetest of the bunch, as far as I'm concerned. It just lucked out that I decided to keep her. I chose her long before I knew her personality. She's a good little girl.
Ahoy! This weekend is Swashbuckler weekend at PA Renn Faire, and also heralds the return of Coyote Run to the Shire. They will be performing throughout the weekend on the O'Malley's Pour House stage in O'Malley's Alley. Be sure to pick up a copy of the Daily Writ from either the front gate or the InfoMistress for show times, and the Elizabethan Times for a map of the Shire. The boys (and drum goddess) will return again for the entire month of October, again on the O'Malley's stage.
Be sure to stop by the Elemental booth for a copy of Coyote Run's newest CD, "Between Wick and Flame" - we will be carrying it in our shop now through the end of September. Elemental is located at the bottom of Swashbuckler Hill, across from Fiona's FInery, on the corner in front of the chess board.
Look for the good smelling booth with all the flowers out front!
Feel free to crosspost far and wide - we want to make sure everyone knows where the Coyotes are this year!

A lot of people on my list do a daily gratitude list...listing 5 (or more) things to be grateful for today. I helps set the tone for the day, and I've decided to do the same...figured it could go a long way to helping me get through this diffficult time.
So without further ado, today's gratitude list (in no particular order):
1. My Sagefyre Sisters (big time top of the list)...without their support, I'd have tossed in the towel probably months ago.
2. Herrs Pretzels (yes, it seems silly..they're one of my all time fav comfort foods)
3. Reconnecting and reconciling with old friends (nuff said)
4. Health (yeah, it sounds trite, but so many of my friends are having so many issues right now health-wise, that I'm glad that I'm in one piece, metaphorically speaking.
5. Hot Showers ... Yes, it the middle of summer even, the comfort of that scalding hot water on my neck is wonderful...
6. Massage ... I got a gift certificate from
magcat for a free 1-hour massage for my birthday. I intend to redeem it VERY soon.
There we have it...I feel better already. Tonight, the Tarot class meets at my house, so I have a few things to tidy up. And I have a therapy appt today...Yay! I haven't been in 6 weeks, so I'm overdue for a nice long talk with her.
Ta for now.

Feet in sand, soft and cool, I ground myself before the Goddess.

I face the east. Her waning face shines gently overhead, as the light from the fire rises, peeks shyly above the waves, then pulls its head up to glow more enticingly and ever higher in the early dawn sky.

The deep, ember red gives way to rust, then orange, then yellow, brighter and stronger with each moment as it shimmers off the ever-moving, ever changing, endless sea below it.

The sea sings and chants a rhythm as I close my eyes...a reminder of her presence. The warmth washes over me. A breeze stirs, carries the ocean birds effortlessly to and fro above the waves. The sand shifts slightly underneath me; I can feel the energy of the earth carried up into my legs, rooting me to the spot, to this moment in time.

I am washed, I am warmed, I am cooled, I am grounded.
All together in this spot, in this moment.
My spirit is renewed.
